Charlton Animated

Technically, my first published work would be a Conan illustration that Roy Thomas saw in a fanzine, then bought for use in the Savage Sword of Conan Marvel magazine. That wasn't quite Marvel "hiring" me as a bullpen artist, though. That would come later. Charlton, on the other hand, did use me as a freelancer regularly starting in late 1974. First, assigning some spot illustrations for text stories that appeared inside their animated titles, while waiting for space to open up in their horror anthologies.
